1. Install and launch

  1. Download Go Galaxy from the official itch.io page.
  2. If the download is a zip file, extract all of it to a folder. Running the game from inside the zip will not work.
  3. Keep every file from the download together in that folder, then run GoGalaxy.exe.

If Windows shows a “Windows protected your PC” message, it is because the game is from an independent developer and is not code-signed. If you downloaded it from our itch.io page, choose More info then Run anyway.

2. Troubleshooting

The game will not start

Make sure you extracted the whole archive, then try running it again. Update your graphics drivers, and close overlays or capture software, which can interfere with some games.

My controller is not detected

Go Galaxy supports Xbox controllers and standard gamepads. Connect the controller before you launch the game, then press any button on the title screen. The on-screen prompts switch to controller icons automatically.

The game runs slowly

Close other heavy programs and make sure vsync and fullscreen suit your display in Settings. Update your graphics drivers.

Flashing or flickering bothers me

Open Settings and turn on the reduced-flashing option. You can also lower screen shake and grain, and slow the game down with the game-speed assist if you want more time.

I cannot find a letter or star shard

Lumi, the firefly, glows when something is nearby. Collected letters are stored in the Memory Box on the title menu, and the level map (M) helps you spot where you have not been yet.

3. Saves and progress

The game saves automatically to gogalaxy_save.json and gogalaxy_settings.json. On Windows they are normally in:

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\dharmikgohil.art\Go Galaxy\

  • Back up: copy both files somewhere safe. To restore, copy them back while the game is closed.
  • Start over: choose New Journey on the title menu. Your progress will be forgotten, but letters you found stay in the Memory Box.
  • Full reset: close the game and delete the two files.

4. Report a bug

The more detail you give, the faster we can fix it. Please include:

  • the chapter and level number, and what you were doing
  • what happened and what you expected
  • your Windows version, graphics card and whether you used a controller
  • a screenshot or short video if you can
